BF6 Players Concur: Tasks Are Way Too Hard
The debut of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 garnered significant enthusiasm, especially for its premier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, simultaneous player numbers reached a high of nearly 750,000. Yet, despite its popularity, a growing number of players are protesting against a portion of the release's toughest challenges, which are mandatory to obtain particular firearms.
Users have commenced resorting to custom matches set up using the Portal feature to complete them, highlighting just how demanding these missions have become.
Grasping BF6 Objectives
Missions serve as Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, different from the regularly refreshed daily and weekly challenges. The game includes four types of assignments, but although many only reward outfits and select equipment, achieving the firearm tasks is the only way of getting 12 of the 41 primary weapons available in the game.
Several of these gated guns may soon find their way on rankings for the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Community Frustration across Reddit
On Reddit, players are understandably expressing their worries about how difficult and grindy a number of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so terrible and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a quote that summarizes just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
The suppression feature in the game is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many advantages in battle as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
Additionally, firing an LMG without aiming is highly imprecise and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you want to be. The same user also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Ridiculously Tough Mission
One more community participant highlighted an additional excessively hard challenge, now in the marksman rifle class to obtain the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations beyond 200 meters with sniper rifles
This is tough enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at those extended distances.
There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but given there are merely nine battlegrounds in the game at present, it implies you must stick to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and perhaps a classic map at a push if you aim to take long-range shots from beyond 200 meters.
The Workaround
There is a workaround though: the portal. This portal feature is a feature that enables you to make custom game modes on whatever map you choose, complete with bots. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it isn't truly in line with the developer's vision.
However, when completing the missions in a normal session feels like anti-playing, since you are forced to participate in such an unconventional way that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for finishing these in a custom game so squad members are not disadvantaged?
Future Adjustments
It is expected if a number of these missions are made easier in the coming days or weeks, because if they're not, a portion of the user base simply are unlikely to obtain the restricted guns.
For now, the audience continues to express their views on these challenging in-game tasks, expecting a fairer player experience in subsequent patches.
