Edwards and Gary O'Neil represent the early candidates in the frame to replace the former manager as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on Sunday following the squad's ten-game without a victory start to the Premier League season.

Furthermore both candidates - both of who have previous associations to the team - are part of the names to be evaluated by the club leadership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a potential hurdle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the ex- Luton Town head coach - who played more than 100 of appearances for the club during his playing career - is considered a leading candidate for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys backing from the Wolves directors as they start the search of hiring a fresh head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a surprising choice considering he was sacked by Wolves in the previous winter.

The former West Ham midfielder is currently unemployed meaning the club would not need to pay any buyout fee.
