Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Is Here, Unveiling Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. It was showcased in a special Nintendo Direct that focused exclusively on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will transport Mario to the far corners of the universe. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Iconic Releases
In the vein of the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some recognizable characters, for instance the Luma, a breakout star from the first movie.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Returns and Expands
The film will see the return of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
The new Mario movie is planned to debut close to the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo confirmed a trio of new releases already confirmed for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
